DARLENE HOFMAN (Executive Director)

Darlene currently holds the position of Executive Director of H&A.

Darlene spent her formative years in Canada. She left Canada after finishing her senior schooling and went to the U.K. to study nursing at a London teaching hospital.  During her three years in the teaching hospital environment she found that her interest lay in the efficient functioning of the hospital.  Darlene left the nursing environment to pursue an administration and managerial interest in the commercial world.  Darlene immigrated to South Africa in the mid 1970s.

In S.A. she completed a BComm Degree and entered the insurance industry in 1992 in a finance and administration capacity. She has held several senior and managerial positions with Aegis and Compass Insurance Companies.

Darlene gained considerable experience in the Finance, Administration, Operations and Portfolio Management functional areas of insurance.

She had a short stint as Financial Director of a listed IT company.  Thereafter, she decided to start her own company, DLH Initiatives cc.  DLH Initiatives, a business processing consulting company was launched in late 1999 with the purpose of pursuing her passion for improving business processes in companies, large and small.  Clients included those in the industries of manufacturing, IT and insurance.

In mid 2002 she completed a business process consulting assignment at H&A and was offered a position in their Healthcare Division which she accepted in June 2002.

Darlene is passionate about her work, a game of golf (some days more than others), cooking & skiing.  You will also find her mucking in on the goat farm in the Southern Drakensberg!

Darlene is married and has two children.
